HEBRON ECO UNIVERSITY: FACULTY OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

OUR GOAL:

HEBRON ECO UNIVERSITY CONDUCTS ITS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AGAINST A BACKDROP OF CHRISTIAN VALUES AND EMPHASIZES QUALITY TEACHING WITH PERSONAL COACHING AND PATIENCE BY ITS TEACHING STAFF WHO ARE DEDICATED TO BRING OUT QUALITY STUDENTS TO FIT THE DEMANDS OF THE MODERN MARKET AND SOCIETY

 

The Department of Humanities under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University will initially focus on the teaching of diploma courses in English and French languages:

 

DIPLOMA COURSES

DIPLOMA IN ENGLISH (ONE YEAR):

  • English Grammar
  • English Comprehension
  • English Composition and
  • Creative Writing
The teaching of English will consist of 4 key courses, namely, English Grammar, English Comprehension, English Composition and Creative Writing. It will be conducted during a total of 200 contact hours (50 hours per course per semester) with the objective of enabling students to acquire skill in speaking and writing English. The final objective of the course will be to jumpstart English learning for undergraduates who will be required to continue their studies at Hebron Eco University in the English medium leading to a Bachelor’s Degree

 

DIPLOMA IN FRENCH (ONE YEAR):

  •  Grammar and Pronunciation
  • Syntax
  • Comprehension and Composition
The teaching of French will consist of 4 key courses, namely, Grammar and Pronunciation, Syntax, Comprehension and Composition. The objective will be to enable students to obtain a comprehensive skill in mastery of the French language and thereby enhance their employability in the international market

 

BACHELOR’S AND MASTERS DEGREE COURSES

 

The Department of Social Sciences under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will also offer:

a Bachelor’s Degree (3 years) and a Master’s Degree (2 years) consisting of the following:

 

Bachelor’s Degree:

A total of 12 courses will be offered during a three year period (2 per semester):

Year 1:

Introduction to Sociology and Anthropology

Introduction to Sociological and Anthropological Research Methods

Rural Sociology

Sociology of Religion

Year 2:

Applied Sociology

Psychological Anthropology

Environmental Sociology

Sociology in Everyday Life

Year 3:

Preparation of an Individual Research Design

Conducting Supervised Field Research

Data Collection and Analysis

Writing and Submitting a Dissertation


Master’s Degree:

Year 1:

A total of 4 courses will be offered during the first year (2 per semester):

Sri Lankan Society and Culture

Methods and Techniques of Sociological Research

Research Design and

Fieldwork

Year 2:

The second year will be devoted to conducting an individual research project (6 months) and

Writing and submitting a thesis (6 months).
